Slate at the Edge of Surface
The work organizes slate, bone, and ink as distinct but interdependent presences. A balanced tonal range and measured contrast shape its still pace. This measured surface is reinforced by the placement of visual weight. Visual weight settles near the center, holding the surrounding field in quiet suspension. In this arrangement, presence and erasure remain deliberately unresolved. Meaning gathers slowly in the intervals where color gives way to quiet.
