The Suspended Fault
Bone establishes the first register, while ink and celadon alter its emotional temperature across the landscape surface. Together they establish a suspended fault. Layered passages make depth felt without breaking the flat authority of the surface. Visual weight is dispersed across the surface, asking the eye to move without a fixed resting point. The resulting tension between memory and anticipation gives the work its inward rhythm. The remaining ambiguity gives the surface its unusual psychological charge.
