The Suspended Orbit

Ink establishes the first register, while vermilion and bone alter its emotional temperature across the landscape surface. Together they establish a suspended orbit. Layered passages make depth felt without breaking the flat authority of the surface. Visual weight gathers toward the left before releasing into the remaining field. The resulting tension between memory and anticipation gives the work its inward rhythm. The remaining ambiguity gives the surface its unusual psychological charge.
