The Suspended Threshold
Ink establishes the first register, while viridian and slate alter its emotional temperature across the square surface. Together they establish a suspended threshold. Layered passages make depth felt without breaking the flat authority of the surface. Visual weight gathers toward the right, leaving the opposite margin unusually active. The resulting tension between solitude and attachment gives the work its inward rhythm. The remaining ambiguity gives the surface its unusual psychological charge.
